Eden's Quilt

Finally... it's done!!!

It really took me a weekend to make it
The back took forever to match

but then to get it to the quilters...
 gorgeous turquoise stitching!

and, to have my professional quilt finisher Mother do the edges...
HA!  And to bring it back to Phx
 Voila!!!

I'm so excited to go give it to Morgan,
one of the FABULOUS trainers at CATZ
Since Eden Elizabeth is now... 7 months old
HA!  Better late than never right?
It's the thought that counts... hopefully!

Love to you Morgan, THANK YOU for all your hard work and diligence w/ me!

Angry Birds

Over Christmas the fam trooped to PetSmart for dog food
It was fun!
Jesse, chatting w/ the bizarre employees...
Quinn and I looking at fish
Austin and I checking out little birdies!
I like to say BIRDIES!

(I may have a sugar high right now)

Anywho, cute little brown finches, and golden canaries!
The SO cute finches were all snuggled, crammed into a tiny hanging basket in the cage.
Mom said she had a canary when she was wee lass!

I think if I could find a BIG antique bird cage, I would buy it and put 3 tiny birdies in it!

But... right now I'm obsessed w/ playing - ANGRY BIRDS!
ha ha ha

And, look at these SO CUTE Angry Birds CUPCAKES!

My other favorite thing, CUPCAKES!  mmmm
I totally want these for my Birthday!

Blue & Gold wrap-up

I love how cute the little scouts are in their uniforms!
It was the Birthday of Scouting and I was in charge of the she-bang!!
Here's how it turned out!
The theme was Resourcefulness - recycled and reused!
We had flowers in old soup cans on the tables,
I gathered fun stuff from work, bubble wrap, packing pockets,
Spools of cable for the boys to sit on when they get their awards
FLAG ceremony!
Balloon arch and streamers
Peanuts as confetti on the tables
I had each family make a centerpiece from recycled things!
Riley's Rockets

Keegan's Robot

Oscar's Farm!  A pig, barn, etc.
the Cow

Doing their skit!  Oh how fun!

And finally, THE PIG!!! centerpiece...

Such a good story about these little piggies...
I got to bring the big pig home, so cute, for my roomie.  She loves pink and, it was V-day
So, I put him on the counter and went out of town.
Suz had game night a few days later and one gent asked for a beverage...
Suz said "oh there's soda, milk, lemonade and something pink in the pig in the fridge"
Help yourself.
Dude thinks the pig looks interesting...
One GLUG and phoohey!!! he spits it out!!!

When I get home a few days later, this story is recanted to me.
My face is riddled w/ shock and horror!!!
The story behind the pig is pretty good...

I tell Suz what Tisa, Kyler's Mom who made the pigs had told me.
They were from recycled materials, to be extra 'RESOURCEFUL'
thought she should use her kiddies pink bath water in them!

Suz is CRACKING UP!
So first thing the next day I call up Tisa to verify...
She said, "well, that was my plan then I drained the tub!"
So... how were the pigs pink?  hmmm

Tuesday Top 10 Beauty Tips

I've been around the beauty block... and know a few things...
(don't take that the wrong way, I'm no pro, ha)
Growing up both my parents worked for make-up companies so I was the girl in the neighborhood w/ TONS of make-up to play with!

Tuesday Top 10 Beauty Tips

10.
I've said it a million times, a woman should ALWAYS have painted toenails!
It's girlie!  Unpainted toes are manly!

9.
If your overdue on getting  your hair done, create a different part so your roots don't show so much!
i.e. side, other side, pull it back in an egg poof.  (smaller than Snooki)

8.
If you're over 23, it's time to get your eyebrows waxed!
Not pencil thin, just get an arch on the bottom and trim the excess top ones!

7.
Dress your age!
If you're over 32, your skirts need to come far longer than your heiney and thighs!

6.
Treat your nails nice.  Simply file them all even!  (for heavens sake)
You could even paint them clear!
You could even paint them a color!  :)
'Super Shiney' clear coat underneath polish and over makes it last at LEAST a week on fingers and over 2 wks on toenails!

5.
Lotion your neck 2 x's a day to prevent aligator neck in the future!

4.
Brush your hair several times a day to keep it shiney!
We have a brush in the bathroom at work.

3.
Comb your eyebrows!
Personally I think clear mascara works best - brush them up and out to look nice and they stay in place!  Try a tiny dab of gel w/ a toothbrush if you're budgeting.

2.
If you want BIG hair, or body...  the 3 tooth comb is the bomb!
It's 3 rows of bristles and then back comb your crown - remember to smooth out the bumps!

1.
Always do another coat of mascara after you apply eyeshadow or liner.
Mascara last!  No one wants dusty eyelashes.  It's wasteful.  :)
My favorite is Loreal's Black Carbon!

Happy St. Patty's Day Pennant Garland

I'm not big on decorating for EVERY holiday,
But I'm partial to the Irish  ;)

I don't have St. Patty's anything,
so I decided it was ok to have ONE thing.

I bought St. Patrick's Day fabric at 40% off at JoAnn's,
1/4 yd. x 6 fabrics
no trimming or squaring up the yardage, even if it's loppy.
Folded the end over 4" and cut it on a diagonal,
corner to corner.
The top of the triangle is 8", not all are perfectly the same -
no prob.

I used 1 yd fusible interfacing (1/2 off = $2),
cut in triangles the same way
Ironed on, and trimmed so none showed from the front.
(I wanted my triangles to hang straight, not flap in the breeze)

Bought some cheapy St. Patrick's ribbon at the $ store/Wally's
And just Zig-Zag'ed it along the top of the pennants.
Overlapping about 1/4"
Leave about 2-3" on either end to tie it to a curtain rod
or to just dangle nicely.

I will probably get some other embellishments to tie between the pennants like tinsel or ribbon.

You really have tons of fabric left over,
I cut 4 triangles of 6 fabrics and made 3 garlands!
(I also used green piping along the top on one garland, or Rick-Rack)

Garage Saleing part 2

This weekend - garage sales were in full force!
We were out till 12!!!
Then, delicious Pei Wei

I found an adorable, plush, totally matching chair, $25
(said chair is currently residing in Cara's living rm, I may have to wrestle her to get it bk)

A 4 poster metal bed, for Dixie!  Aah ha ha ha $10
(need to paint it stunning silver!)

A high side table for my kitchen, or a bedside table, $7

And... a Remington typewriter that I"m going to disassemble and make jewelry out of!  $10!

Pretty thrifty I say!

I found a PERFECT table to use for a dressing table (I've always wanted one)
And they wanted $100 dollars for it!  They said it was an antique gaming table, the top folded in half and twisted around.  mmm, that's not a garage sale item sister - craigslist.  boo.

I CRACKED my head on the car door frame-
SO hard I saw stars and crunched my teef,
I put my head back (on my comfy chair loaded in the back of the car).  Cara's aunt Raven happened to be w/ us and asked if I'd like her to do some energy work to make the pain go away.
Um, yes!
So she warmed up her hands, put them over my head and said
it felt very hot...
LITERALLY, she drew the pain out!  OUT!
Reiki - amazing lady!  So cool!

Valentines Garland

I found this cute polka dot garland online
I made a cute one for Christmas
Well... I thought HEARTS would be even CUTER!

I bought felt at JoAnn's when it was on sale, 1/8 yd ea. color
I think I paid about $3 total.
Then I bought a 6' roll of rick-rack, on sale!

I started cutting out hearts by folding the felt in 1/2,
the hearts were too symetrical.
So I started lopping off one side of the heart and making them mis-shapen
WAY CUTER!

Sewed the rick-rack on thru the middle of the hearts,
no specific order, and Voila!
(I'd advise sewing the rick-rack closer to the top of the hearts so they hang upright, they kinda flip around)

I love it!
